Sometimes you fall in love with the idea of someone. You get lost in the illusion of who they are by the lies they tell. When you finally realize that the person you fell in love with doesn’t exist, it’s too late because the person who has been by your side this whole time has already broken your spirit and tarnished your love.
Then you often blame yourself or equate the failure of that relationship to the fact that somehow you weren’t good enough. In the darkest times of our existence we find personal faults because we refuse to believe that the person we once loved was nothing more than a monster.
But once you accept that even the darkest cave can be illuminated by the tiniest light, you begin to trust again. Trusting in the warmth of the human spirit like a flame that illuminates the darkness. You then realize not every cave is filled with a monster.
